Inspections and Roadworthy Certificates

Selling or Buying a Vehicle

Selling a vehicle:
In Queensland, a safety certificate is needed when:

  • A registered light vehicle is offered for sale in Qld
  • Transferring registration to a new owner
  • Transferring a Qld registration from another state or territory
  • When re-registering an unregistered vehicle

A safety certificate is not a comprehensive inspection on the quality or life expectancy of a vehicle.  It is an inspection that covers the vehicles basic safety standards.  It is the car seller’s responsibility to provide a safety certificate (often called Roadworthy Certificate)

Buying a vehicle:
If you are purchasing a 2nd hand vehicle and are able to bring that vehicle to our workshop, we are able to test drive, inspect and provide our mechanical opinion on the vehicle before you make the purchase. Inspection fees cost $121.
